Leave the building IMMEDIATELY, without running.

Move promptly to the assembly area as detailed in the evacuation notices posted around the building.

Assemble with your tutor so that your name can be checked off against the attendance register.

All students will be advised of the evacuation procedures, exit routes and location of fire extinguishers as part of the induction process on the first day of any course.

Medical Emergency:
In most cases your tutor is qualified in first aid and will evaluate situations that might require medical attention.  If the tutor is not qualified in first aid then they will know who is.
In cases of genuine emergency, please ring the emergency services by dialling 111. (All MDS phones dial straight out)

Accident & Injuries:
If you suffer an accident, injury, or are involved in a near miss situation on the premises, it MUST be reported to your tutor.
Any accident or injury while on work experience MUST be reported to the employer or their nominee.

See Reception for the location of First Aid Kit.

Housekeeping:
Good housekeeping is the foundation of safety.  Students are required to keep the classroom clean and tidy.  Any rubbish or unwanted materials are to be placed in the rubbish bins provided.

Learner Grievance Procedure:

These procedures are detailed in the Student Handbook supplied to students enrolled in long courses and outlined at the beginning of all short courses.
In general, if a student has a complaint or grievance relating to their course, assessment, or any other aspect of the course, these steps are to be followed:
Report the complaint to the course tutor/assessor and complete a Complaint Form.
The course tutor will attempt to resolve the issue raised.
If the matter is of a serious nature, the tutor will fully investigate the complaint then refer the matter to the Manager of Mainland Driving School.
The student will be advised of the outcome and after a reasonable period of time, the tutor will check with the student to ensure that the matter has been fully resolved.
If the issue remains unresolved, mediation may be recommended.
Complaints involving Sexual Harassment, violence  or interference with personal property MUST be reported to the Manager of Mainland Driving School.
If, after following these procedures, the student is not satisfied, they can request that the complaint  be reported to the Tertiary Education Commission or they may contact NZQA on 0800-724-357.

ALL COMPLAINTS ARE TAKEN SERIOUSLY
