What is it? Before you can apply for your Full Class 3 Truck & Trailer Licence, you must first acquire a Learner Licence to prove that you remember the basic road rules. What is involved? Before you sit your test you should obtain a Medical Certificate from your doctor unless you have had one within the last 5 years. Be sure to tell your doctor that this certificate is for a driver licence. Go to the AA or VTNZ licensed Testing Station to sit your Learner Licence. This is a 35 question Scratchy Test consisting of 25 questions from the standard Road Code, 5 questions from the Class 2 Road Code then 5 questions from the Class 3 Road Code. (We can send you some information to help you with the Truck questions if you wish) The cost for the scratchy test will be $79. They will give you a temporary paper Class 3L licence, while your plastic version is being processed and sent to you in the mail. What can I do with my Learner Licence: This licence allows you to drive a Class 3 vehicle provided you have someone sitting beside you in the cab who has had their full Class 3 or higher licence for at least 2 years. This licence also qualifies you to participate in our Class 3 Truck Licence Course which will see you able to apply for your FULL Class 3 licence by the end of the course.
